The constant evolution of today’s technology has created the demand for faster Internet connection, which has led us to the revolutionary world of 5G. However, a lot of people have raised concerns about 5G health risks. Is 5G dangerous? How dangerous? And what can we do about it? While some people are oblivious of the current matter, some are panicking.
What is 5G?
5G is the fifth generation of mobile wireless systems. It is a way for devices, both mobile and stationary, to send and receive data without being plugged into a wall outlet.
The first generation allowed us to talk on a cellphone. Next, 2G gave us talk and text. With 3G we could also send and receive a little data, and 4G gave us the power to transmit a lot more. In theory, 5G is expected to be at least 3 times faster than 4G. Which makes people worry, is 5g dangerous?
How Does 5G Work?
Before we can understand 5G health risks, we need to understand how it works. You see, to carry even greater amounts of data, 5G broadcasts at frequencies much higher than 4G. These are extremely high microwave frequencies also known as millimeter waves. However, the higher the frequency, the shorter the range. As a result, 5G’s infrastructure requires cell towers to be much closer to each other. Thus creating an emitting grid of 24/7 wireless radiations near our homes.
The influx of new cell towers will cause significant increase in generated radio frequencies, which has many people asking, is 5G dangerous? Many people think it increases the risk of getting diseases like cancer.
Is 5G Dangerous?
There have been massive debates and studies about 5G health risks and weather this is true or not. In April of 2018, the International Society of Doctors for the Environment (ISDE) and its member organizations in 27 countries, adopted a declaration calling for a moratorium on the deployment of 5G in the European Union.
Furthermore, an internationally well-known scientist expert of EMF health effects, Dr. Martin Pall has been public with the dangers of 5G. Dr. Pall stated that after the introduction of 5G, we will see an increased illness such as blindness, hearing loss, skin cancers, thyroid issues and nervous system dysfunction. The impact isn’t merely theoretical. Researchers in some countries have noted that a sharp rise in autism, cancer, neurological disease and other chronic ailments observed over the last 10 years could have a direct link to the unprecedented levels of microwave radiation we’ve all been bathing in.
Not So Fast
Despite of all those studies, there are some who do not believe the 5G health risks. For instance, The National Cancer Institute refutes that there is no consistent evidence that over exposure to non-ionizing radiation increases cancer risks to humans.
Also, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Association (FDA), the current safety limits for radio frequency energy exposure remain acceptable for protecting the public health.
Even the Federal Communications Commision (FCC) doesn’t believe that 5G frequency can be harmful.
Is 5G Dangerous?
With all these contradicting studies and researches about 5G health risks, it can get pretty confusing. But the question is, Does it really matter?
As early as 2011, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer has already classified RFR as a potential 2B carcinogen. This specifically indicates that the use of mobile phones could lead to brain tumors. But did anyone stop using their mobile phones?
In fact, mobile phones have evolved and is currently connecting everyone in the world. In 2013, statistics shows that there are 96 cell-phone service subscription for every 100 people in the world.
Technological advancement has always brought good in our lives and the Internet is no different. When 4G came as an upgrade for 3G, it brought us better streaming services for entertainment. Online jobs soared as faster data transfers allows working anywhere possible. Furthermore, GPS are more accurate and the Internet of Things has started.
Similarly, 5G will bring us more opportunity and new technology. For instance, driverless cars that will lessen if not prevent accidents, or smart appliances for a more efficient electricity consumption. Who knows what 5G is capable of, the sky’s the limit.
However, if you are really concerned by its health risks, then here are some things that you can do to protect yourself.
- Get a good quality radiation detector to know whether or not you’re near high levels of EMFs.
- Protect yourself with an EMF shield to neutralize the harmful effects of EMF emitting devices.
- Whenever possible, limit your exposure.
- Refuse to use 5G phones and devices.
- Refuse to buy any smart appliances.
Is 5G dangerous? Whatever your stance is, change is inevitable. And as the smartest species on the planet, we always find ways to adapt.
